Akshardham Temple Timings and Entry Fees

Akshardham Temple is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM (monday holiday), while the entry fees for the main temple are free of charge. For each of the exhibitions, which are the Sahaj Anand Water Show, Sanskruti Vihar boat ride, and Neelkanth Darshan giant screen film, there are individual paid entry tickets, available as a bundle at the entrance.

What to See at Akshardham Temple With Children

  • Sanskruti Vihar boat ride – a 12 minute boat trip through scenes of ancient Indian culture – usually a favorite amongst children visitors
  • Sahaj Anand water show – an evening water and light show with spiritual narrative – better suited for older kids as it requires sitting through the whole thing
  • Garden of India – open areas with topiaries of historical figures

Security Is Thorough — Plan Extra Time

Given the complex’s scale and profile, security screening is strict — no phones, cameras, food, or bags beyond a small clear pouch are allowed inside, with paid cloak rooms at the entrance. Budget at least 30-45 minutes for entry alone on a busy day.

The Monument Itself

Akshardham Delhi with kids Built primarily of pink sandstone and Italian marble without structural steel, in a style following traditional Indian temple architecture principles, the central monument features over 20,000 carved figures of deities, sadhus, and mythological scenes across its walls, spread over more than 100 acres of grounds.

Practical Family Tips

  • Bring only essentials — food, phones, and most electronics must be checked at the entrance, not carried in
  • Wheelchairs and strollers are available for rent near the entrance
  • Evenings are cooler and better lit for photography from outside the complex, since cameras aren’t allowed within

Security Is Rigorous — Allocate More Time

Taking into account the size and popularity of Akshardham Temple, security is rigorous – there is no mobile phone, camera, food, and bag except a small transparent pocket that visitors can bring into the compound. Cloak rooms are available for a fee in front of the building. You need to allow 30-45 minutes to pass security.

The Monolith Itself

Akshardham Delhi with kids Constructed mostly of pink sandstone and Italian marble without any steel in its structure, following the principles of Indian temple architecture, the main monolith has 20,000 carved statues of gods, ascetics, and mythological figures on its walls within the territory that covers more than 100 acres of land.

Tips for Families Visiting the Site

  • Take only what is necessary – food, mobiles and most electronic devices should be left in lockers provided in the entrance area
  • There are wheelchairs and strollers for rent at the entrance to the building
  • The evenings are cooler and more suitable for photographing the exterior of the monument because cameras are prohibited in the compound

How to Get There

Akshardham Delhi with kids has its own Delhi Metro Station on the Blue Line, thus it is one of the easiest major attractions to reach without driving in Delhi.

Plan to allocate a minimum of half a day to visit the exhibitions with children.
