Akshardham Delhi Timings 2026: Entry, Exhibition Tickets, Water Show and Visiting With Kids
Last verified: September 2026. Ticket prices are set by the BAPS trust and revised occasionally — confirm at the counter or on akshardham.com.
Akshardham is one of the few temples in India built for a full-day visit: a carved stone mandir, three indoor exhibitions, a boat ride through Indian history, gardens, a food court and a fountain show after dark. For families it is the easiest big temple in the country to do with children — as long as you know the rules before you arrive, because the entrance turns away more people for what’s in their pockets than any other temple in Delhi.

The No-Phone Rule
This is the thing that ruins visits. Nothing electronic goes in: no phones, cameras, smartwatches, power banks, earphones. Also no bags larger than a small purse, no food, no toys, no pens. Everything must go into the free cloakroom before security, and the cloakroom queue on a weekend Sunday can be 30–45 minutes. Come with as little as possible; keep wallet, ID and water bottle (water is allowed and refill points are inside).
Strollers are allowed. Baby food is allowed in small quantities — tell the security staff.
What’s Inside, in Order
The Mandir — the carved sandstone-and-marble main temple with 20,000 figures and the elephant plinth (148 elephants around the base, each a different story). Free. 30–45 minutes.
Three exhibitions (ticketed, about 2 hours together):
- Sahajanand Darshan — a walk-through with animatronic scenes from Swaminarayan’s life. Kids like this most.
- Neelkanth Darshan — a large-format film following the teenage Neelkanth’s journey across India. 40 minutes, seated, air-conditioned — the break every parent needs.
- Sanskruti Darshan — a slow boat ride past scenes of ancient Indian science, medicine and culture. 12 minutes.
Gardens and Bharat Upavan — bronze statues of Indian figures; good for letting children run.
Yagnapurush Kund — the stepped pond that becomes the water show stage at night.
Premvati food court — pure vegetarian, cheap, reliable; the only food inside.
Visiting With Children: A Plan That Works
- Arrive at 10 AM when it opens. Do the mandir first while everyone is fresh.
- Exhibitions at 11:30 — the film is the reset button.
- Lunch at Premvati around 1:30.
- Gardens and statues in the afternoon; Abhishek if the kids are interested.
- Leave, or stay for the water show if they can last until 8 PM — it’s worth it for children over six. For younger ones, skip it and come out by 5.
Toilets are clean and everywhere. There is a first-aid post. No shade in the open plazas — hats in summer.
How to Reach
- Metro: Akshardham station on the Blue Line, 5 minutes’ walk. This is the way to go — parking fills by noon on weekends.
- By road: NH24 / Noida Link Road, east of the Yamuna. Paid parking inside.
- From Connaught Place about 30 minutes by metro; from the airport 45–60 minutes by taxi outside rush hour.
Dress Code
Shoulders and knees covered; the gate provides a free sarong-style cover if you’re not. Shoes are worn throughout the complex except inside the mandir, where there’s a shoe counter.
