Timings of Kamakhya Temple

Kamakhya opens at 5:30 AM and usually closes at 10:00 PM. However, it may change during special rituals. Darshan is unavailable for visitors for a certain time in June, during Ambubachi Mela, since the temple has a ritual break related to the goddess’s cycle and then it opens for thousands of people.

It is believed that the temple is located in the place where the womb and the sexual parts of the goddess Sati have fallen after Shiva carried the body of his wife who immolated herself in sorrow.
